Art Project “Buy Nothing”

It is not without pride that we are currently creating a collaborative art project with the Finnish artist Tea Mäkipää whose works have already been presented in P.S.1 New York and at the Expo 2005 in Japan amongst others.
Tea’s works question social structures. The purpose of this collaborative video work is to question the prevalent unreflected mass consumption.

BUERO BUERO

franzthomaspeter works in the fields of fashion, theater, dance, music, photography, film and much more. His productions live through the connection of different categories, which complement each other in unique ways. By invitation from Netural Communication, the artist, DJ and fashion designer is developing his article on the industrial world which by now has become hectic under the title BUERO BUERO.

The franzthomaspeter label does not work with typical beauty ideals present by the thousands in numerous fashion magazines. Instead, it deals with beauty off the fashion mainstream. The person, independent from his appearance, is placed in the limelight through the label clothing; and their own completely personal uniqueness is celebrated far from conventions. Even taboo topics become fashionably chic. If something is wearable or not depends on the person wearing it. The threshold between wearable / unwearable is removed by the selection of the pattern, materials, and by the message it conveys. Fashion and clothing as a mirror of the soul carried on the outside with evidence of the individual mood or mental state – from discrete to conspicuous.

franzthomaspeter lives and works in Vienna, completed his studies on graphic design and textile at the Linz Art University, since 1994 numerous projects and shows nationally and internationally.

Lichtbilder

LICHTBILDER is the title and topic of Kurt Stadlers newest work group, in which he attempts to observe several phenomena of light from different perspectives.

For this, he uses such different media as inkjet prints or photos of flames, the surface of water with the reflection of the sun partially filtered by clouds, a video filmed from one single angle showing the stormy waters that varyingly reflect the sky, or a movable sculpture that appears to glow transparent in the darkness.

Time, movement and with it room are obviously inherent in these powers. The poly-perspective approach to perspective, room, time and movement are definitely because Kurt Stadler is a sculptor.

He doesn’t just see multi-dimensionalism as tied only to volume or objects, rather much more as on the multitude of media, perspective, the mental and communicative approaches to a question are the tools which allow him perhaps to not only carve pictures, rather to question them creatively.

Kurt Stadler, born 1962 in Graz, lives in Graz. 1980-86 studied Sculpture on the University for Applied Arts in Vienna. In addition to his personal artistic work shown in numerous exhibitions in Austria and abroad, Kurt Stadler works also as a curator.

In cooperation with Netural Communication, a film is being developed out of photographs taken during a stay in New York.

Living Codes

LIVING CODES is a program that makes the creation of a visual / diagram journal or a weekly plan possible. As opposed to a written journal where daily life is written and can be read in chronological order, meaning consecutively , LIVING CODES offer the possibility of a summarized impression of a moment which lives especially soulfully in pictures. LIVING CODES is a picture journal as well as a visual protocol and the illustration of how one spends his time. Journals are not written here, rather a picture is drawn.

Advertising Medium

The symbolically charged picture of the artist as a profession is as much a vague and mythically appearing idea of the Bohemian, outsider, tied to idealism today as it ever was, not the least because of its non-conforming value system and lifestyle.

Despite this, self-marketing is assumed to be an essential element to today’s self-concept of artists.
In the middle of this discrepancy, Gerhard Brandl uses strategies of sponsoring and offers a series of self-portraits as advertising surfaces. In this way, he raises questions of the artist as a producer and service provider and art work as a product and advertising surface.

The self-portraits of a traditional genre – oil on canvas – making the artist, his character, his career and his autonomy available.
