How does one
actually become
a Netural?

Prepare to be amazed.

Interview with Albert J. Ortig

Edi.: Herr Ortig, it has been six years since our last conversation. Netural has grown quite a bit in the meantime. What moves you currently, and where?
AJO: The unicorn is on the move again! On the one hand, new employees have joined the Netural team – we are still a family, but about 40 employees is relatively large. On the other hand, we are more impressed than ever to get cooler and better projects off the ground. For this reason, we love to surround ourselves with the very best that the online world can offer. That adds a bounce in our steps and gives us great joy.
Edi.: What are your demands on your staff? What do you appreciate and what can you not stand?
AJO: I appreciate, just as I always have, when someone flourishes doing what they do best. We now work at a level, at which each individual is really challenged. Nevertheless, both professionals, as well as entry level applicants, can gain a foothold; on one side with challenging projects, on the other, with friendly colleagues who will let you look over their professional wide shoulders without timidity. Because we work very closely together across all departments, in addition to being qualified in their specialist field, one should also be a good team player. What I cannot stand… (thinks): narcissistic and boastful people! They don’t make a good impression on the sensitive unicorn.
Edi.: What does a meaningful agency such as Netural do to bring the best people on board? And then to hold them?AJO: Fascinating projects and top clients! And a team in which new and senior Neturals work together to accomplish the most amazing things. At the end of the day, everyone should be proud of what they can do and what has come out of it. In addition, a picnic at the lake or ice curling under a starry sky, whatever it is, not only always work. With us, it is also possible that someone plays A-league basketball part-time and then becomes the multimedia manager. Or that an art director balances her job with her two children happily. What I want to say: Netural is more than just work. We most definitely aspire to an art of lifestyle feeling which positively inspires one.
Edi.: How does the application process at Netural work?AJO: The most interesting applicants are invited to a first interview with the team manager. In the second round, the company management is also present.
Edi.: Netural has long made Social Media part of its main line. Do you actually look at the social media profile of your applicants? Would they possibly affect the selection process?AJO: That depends. When someone applies as a social media professional, of course. I also look up experienced professionals on XING or LinkedIn, if necessary. However no one will ever find me looking at studiVZ & co. because my interests are restricted to professional information. In general, the first personal impression is still the most important for me.
Edi.: Last question – you are considered an “Innovation Pioneer”: what is your current favorite gadget and why?AJO: A Leica M9 because it is a mix of micromechanics and high technology. In my private life, I enjoy being analog.
Edi.: Thank you for the friendly interview and the elegant coffee with apricot pastry!AJO: You’re welcome! I am looking forward to the application interviews and am curious about the questions that will arise!
