Storyblok in the fast lane

The Netural spin-off Storyblok increased its total funding to $11 million, demonstrating what's possible given a good "parental home".

In the digital economy, gaining recognition from the American online portal TechCrunch has long been a badge of honor – signaling a startup’s ascent into the global league of noteworthy companies. The Netural spin-off Storyblok became one of those companies following its most recent funding round. On February 3, 2021, TechCrunch reported that the financial investor Mubadala Capital – part of the Mubadala Investment Company (headquartered in Abu Dhabi) – was leading the latest venture capital round, providing a total of $8.5 million. This positioned the innovative cloud solution, created by masterminds Alexander Feiglstorfer and Dominik Angerer, firmly on track to become another success story in the dynamic world of internet giants.

“After the announcement, the messaging apps wouldn’t stop buzzing,” recounted Dominik, who had largely managed the company’s growth from home during the pandemic year of 2020. The news was picked up not only by German-speaking media but also reached as far as Japan – fully in line with the founders' ambitions. By that time, the company’s 30-member team was already distributed around the globe: in Austria, Italy, the UK, Serbia, Romania, Ukraine, Chile, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, with 60,000 projects in 130 countries – including clients such as Pizza Hut, Adidas, UPC, and Payone.

This once again demonstrates what is possible for companies from Linz. Storyblok was developed in-house starting in 2015 and was spun off as a separate company in 2017. Internationalization began in 2019, after the software was recognized as innovative and adopted by several major Netural clients. Albert Ortig, CEO, is convinced that Storyblok will not be the last Netural success story.
