When launching the EGGER Decorative 2020–22 Collection, EGGER, a globally operating producer of wood-based materials, prioritized digitalization. Real material samples still play an important role in sales, but when it comes to give customers the best possible advice, samples alone are no longer sufficient. For professional customer advice in up-to-date formats, EGGER provides sales partners with a EGGER Decorative Collection App and an online configurator, the EGGER VDS, the Virtual Design Studio.

Ever since its introduction in 2020, carpenters and architects have used the app in face-to-face discussions with customers: Its smart scan function gives immediate access to all information about all decors in the collection. Its structure visualizer makes structural features tangible. Every décor comes with full availability information and ordering samples is done in a few clicks. Which explains why around the world, 25,000 users rely on the EGGER Decorative Collection app at least once every month.

Taking sales support one step further, the online configurator EGGER Virtual Design Studio supports architects, interior designers and carpenters in design-related customer meetings and sales talks. They use this cost-free online service to display entire virtual rooms decked out with decors from the new design collection as well as current floor decors. At the push of a button, it is now possible to give lively impressions of every design, be it bedrooms or hotel rooms, private homes or public venues. Visualizing, configuring, comparing, saving, sharing, printing and downloading designs has become a child´s play.

High-performance and photo-realistic

What is the technology behind this innovation? Using dynamically combined decor, lighting and reflection levels, Netural achieves a photorealistic quality of high-end renderings on demand while simultaneously cutting loading times short. To ensure the application´s effectiveness, Netural uses fewer pre-rendered images than conventional solutions do, achieving spectacular results: The EGGER VDS displays, e.g., decors with reflective surfaces in photo-realistic quality, including shadows from other furniture and lighting from windows or lamps. All in all, Netural has succeeded in raising room dynamical visualization to a whole new level of visual quality. Angular and the Netural product “Frontstage” ensure the necessary performance, stability and scalability of this web application.
