Order Data Platform "Lumeso"

Lumeso is an AI-based SaaS solution for automated order data capture in the flat glass industry. It was developed in close collaboration with Netural. Being awarded the German Innovation Award – in two categories – demonstrates the relevance and innovative power of the solution.

Initial Situation

The flat glass industry is characterized by highly customized products and complex ordering processes. When a retailer wants to place an order for flat glass, they typically send the order to a flat glass processing company via email.

The information and attachments in these emails vary greatly and do not have a uniform format. Before the order can be processed, the team of the flat glass processing plant must therefore first manually read, interpret, and transfer this data to their ERP system. These processes are time-consuming and error-prone.

While large customers may use EDI interfaces to share order data more quickly, this is not available for the majority of business partners. This is where Lumeso comes in. Christian Kimmeswenger, now CTO of Lumeso and previously active in the flat glass industry himself, recognized this challenge – and laid the foundation for Lumeso with his solution idea.

Challenge(s)

To establish the basis of the solution, Netural was brought on board as a design and development partner. The goal was to transform the vision into a concrete concept and develop a solution that ticked all the boxes, both technically and from a user perspective. A brand identity for the solution also had to be created.

The requirements for the solution were enormous:

  • Increasing the speed of order data capture
  • Reducing manual effort and sources of error
  • Increasing transparency throughout the order process
  • Ensuring compatibility with various ERP systems
  • Integrating and securing process knowledge in the software
  • Ensuring a seamless data flow
  • Compliance with all applicable data security regulations

A specially appointed Netural task force consisting of UI/UX experts, developers, and strategists began implementation in 2023. The results were successful: In 2024, the Lumeso PoC was presented to a broad audience for the first time at the 'glasstec' trade fair – with excellent feedback.

Solution

Lumeso connects companies in the flat glass industry and sets global standards for seamless order processing between manufacturers, processors, and distributors. It connects stakeholders, creates transparency, increases efficiency, and accelerates order data capture.

Customers have two technical options available for this:

  • AI-based reading and interpretation of email orders, including attachments, and automatic transfer of the data to the ERP system.
  • Direct transmission of the order via an EDI 2.0 interface in a 1:n network for secure and scalable ERP-to-ERP communication.

This smart combination enables orders to be entered 10 times faster than with conventional processes – while simultaneously reducing errors and increasing customer loyalty. Furthermore, clients are provided with transparent order tracking via the dashboard.

Conclusion

Lumeso combines disruptive technology with scalable cloud technology and deep industry understanding – and impressively demonstrates how digital transformation not only improves processes but also rethinks entire industries. It minimizes the risks associated with manual data entry, ensures short turnaround times, and increases efficiency so teams can fully focus on value-added tasks. In May 2025, Lumeso was honored in two categories at the German Innovation Award – once in the 'Industry Specific and Service Software' category and once in the 'Transformative Solutions' category. And Lumeso will get even better: User feedback is continuously implemented to further improve its functionality.
